My Life

12 Things I Learned from Flag Football

  • Stay-at-home moms typically wear workout clothes—and some of them actually have the time to work out.
  • I don’t have any non-business clothes. I only wear work clothes—and it’s very uncomfortable to wear heels on the grass.
  • It takes us two hours to get out of the house now that my kids are older. When they were babies, it was so much easier to find their shoes.
  • Healthy snacks do not include Doritos and juice boxes. You’ll be judged if that’s what you give your kids.
  • Moms are just high school mean girls with kids. The cattiness never stops.
  • Dads are tranquil compared to sports moms.
  • You don’t really notice other kids, since your child is always a superstar in your eyes.
  • Coaches hold the key to happiness for an hour every Saturday morning.
  • If you think maybe you’re babying your child too much, like holding him when he cries about not getting a touchdown—you are!
  • Losing well is so much harder than winning—not only for the children.
  • Flag football is hard, but the ice cream afterward makes it worthwhile.
  • Memories have little to do with winning or losing.
